My male killed just about everything in his tank. He is the king of 180 now. I picked up 3 females from Lowcel to see if I could get him to mate with one. All the fish in this tank originated from an F1 Amarillo male from Ken Davis and a Wild caught female Red Devil from Jeff Rapps. The breeding happened on accident and these are some of the fish we have gotten.

I hope that with him acting like he paired up with the female with the most orange to bring that orange trait back out in them.

Pics are below and the original mother and father are pictured. Most have seen that picture plenty of times.

I would cull most,if not all, of them and keep the rest to yourself. This is the type of breeding that contaminates blood lines.

I agree. They are awesome fish but you shouldn't let them out of your tanks for the sake of future breedings. The most responsible thing you can do for them now is keep them all for yourself.

It is difficult enough to determine a true labiatus or citrinellum from a "red devil". This combo that you have would only add to the confision. They are attractive fish but please don't let them out into the lfs.

There is no risk of them getting out, I gave them to him with the understanding that they would only be given to friends with large enough tanks, the rest will be used as feeders. None are going to be given/sold to any of our local fish stores.

As for the parent's, that picture was actually used in Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine by this site as an ad one month. I thought that was pretty cool. :D
