A couple new additions today.. enjoyed myself at LFS and also found out about a few new ones that i may get later..tommorrow i am picking up some flag cat fish..first time i saw them here on MFK and i like them..also bought this rope fish today..if anyone has any info on rope fish please pass it along .. i know only the basics. and a new oscar and my very favorites the bichirs......thanks

I asked my LFS about one of these ...........and he is checking on it for me,,, I want one!!

That is an awsome Oscar. I love that he has only black on his dorsal fin. Thats cool :D

I have a Rope fish.

I dont know TONS about them. But i know you need absolutely NO open spaces for him to get out of. Make sure to tape up any cracks. (they are escape artists)
Luckily if they DO escape, and you're home within 7 hrs, there is a chance he'll still be alive.
They eat meaty foods like your Bichirs do. Same diet pretty much.
I would say most of the same things that apply to Bichirs apply to ROpes since they are in the same family?
Dont give him chunks of food that are too big. Their mouths are pretty small and they can choke.
I give mine the beefheart recipe i told you about in another post. I give him big chunks and he'll grab it and hit it on the rocks to break small pieces off.

I LOVE ROPES!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, how long is your Rope. He looks about the same size as mine.
Maybe 8" ?

I want one of those too. I have to to more research on them first though.
I love oddballs.

Thank you for that info.. i have him in a small tank now all taped up and safe because the bicher twins are in there too.. I would like to put the rope fish in with the frontosa's later on.. is this a good idea.. and also do the bichirs and rope fish get along okay in the same tank.. or later will i have to separate because rope gets so much bigger? thanks so much

Well, i dont know about the ROpe with fronts. I dont know much about Fronts.

Ropes get very long, but they dont get the girth that Bichirs do.

I would think the rope and bichirs would be fine together.

yes he is about that size..really did not measure him but that is a good estimate. How old is yours? How long have you had him?
