Okay, it looks like I may be getting a 120 gallon tank, I know, far cry from the 33 gallon I was asking about before!

My quesions are,

1. Can I put small fish in such a huge tank? All the fish I plan to get will start out small. I plan on having 3 or more bichirs, a Black Ghost Knife, six or so Denisonii Barbs, six or so Boesmani Rainbows, maybe some other Rainbows as well, and my sister wants to put a Parrot fish in there. Oh, and maybe a Rope Fish. So if they are all small when I first put them in, is that okay? I know most people use grow out tanks, but I only want the one tank up.

2. How often are you all doing water changes? I know it depends on the bioload, but I'm pretty new to this so I was wondering how often I would need to do it with those fish? My sister has a 75 gallon, but all her fish are very small, she does it ever week to two weeks. Would weekly be okay or am I looking at more often?

3. What is the best clean up type fish to put in there? I'm assuming little guys like Amano shrimp and Otto cats would get eaten, so what other fish would make a good clean up crew?

4. The shrimp that you all feed to your bichirs, is it just the bags of frozen shrimp from the grocery store? Raw or cooked? Any other grocery store seafood that is good?

Okay, that's it for now! Sorry for all the questions!:)

1. Can I put small fish in such a huge tank? Yes you can

1a. I plan on having 3 or more bichirs, what species this will help determine tankmates

1b. if they are all small when I first put them in, is that okay? not how i'd do it but they should be fine.

2. How often are you all doing water changes? 10-20% weekly

3. What is the best clean up type fish to put in there?Learn to feed correctly and you won't need a clean up crew.

4.4. The shrimp that you all feed to your bichirs, is it just the bags of frozen shrimp from the grocery store? Raw or cooked? Any other grocery store seafood that is good? raw just thaw cut them to the bichir bite size and feed. They will need other foods not just shrimp-Anne

Thank you Anne.:)

I was thinking of one Delhezi, one albino sen, and maybe one long finned sen.

When you say learn to feed correctly what did you mean? (I did know they need more than just shrimp:) ) Won't algae still grow?

1) If you're putting small bichirs in a big tank, do them a big favor and have some floating plants, real or plastic, doesn't matter, suits them just the same. I've always used the upgrade system. Start small fish in small tanks, upgrade them to larger tanks as they grow. 3 steps works great, you can do a 2 step just fine too though.

2) Weekly, 50%

3) Not needed

4) Raw shrimp from the grocery store, chopped up finely, especially since I have a rope in my community. Be sure to at least have a high protein pellet (most hikari pellets are fine) included as a large part of their diet.

You'll find one. I do about a 1/3 water change per week. You asked about a clean up crew. I personally would house a few plecos. Maybe a common in a tank that size and a couple smaller ornate ones.

Bristle noses. They actually eat algae their entire lives. Olive nerite snails if you want snails. They'll lay eggs but require brackish for them to actually hatch. Somebody told me that they will actually eat BGA. Dunno if THAT is true, it'd be nice though.

Okay, I found another tank, but it is smaller. Do you think I could put the same amount of fish in a 48"x18"x24" tank? He said it is 100 gallons, but I think it is a 90.
3 bichirs,(delhezi and senegalus) a Black Ghost Knife, six or so Denisonii Barbs, six or so Boesmani Rainbows, and my sister wants to put a Parrot fish in there. Oh, and maybe a Rope Fish.
I would be willing to not get the Rope Fish. Do you think I could add 3 or so Clown Loaches to the mix, or is that too much?

heres your stock list 3 bichirs,(delhezi an senegalus) a Black Ghost Knife, six or so Denisonii Barbs, six or so Boesmani Rainbows and its at the limit if not slightly over

Is this 90 as big as you are going or could you add another tank?
sister wants to put a Parrot fish in there/Nope sorry to bad she loses uh uh
Do you think I could add 3 or so Clown Loaches to the mix/Nope sorry
you could probably get away adding the rope
I'd swap the bgk for an African Knifefish-Xenomystus nigri
