Some new Spotted and or Longnose or ? gar pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From the thickness of their snouts(presuming that they're from the same source), my guess is that they're either true spotted or the common florida gars. However, their long snouts seem to indicate that they may actually be true spotted gars, despite their elusiveness. Just my 2 cents worth :)

assuming you caught them recently from the wild (and given your location) they could easily be a group of both. LNG usually don't have a full-body dorsal stripe, so fish with that full dorsal stripe are more likely to be spotted, those lacking, probably longnose (can compare snouts on the same size individuals as well).
YOY wild SPGs look very similar to LNG, so you may just have to wait a bit longer for other differences to show - in a week or two we should definitely be able to tell the differences--

Aww... I'm so jealous you guys get to catch my 2 favorite gars all at once!:nilly:

I'll try to post some pics of their growth every week or so. I can already notice growth in the last 5 days or so since I've had them. Incredible!

Awesome little gars!

I concur with Solomon... I think that some of those are Spotteds with a couple looking LNG'ish.. Week or two and it will be much more clear on which is which.
