I think these lyonsi are getting close to spawning, I got them from Ira a while ago.

A nice pair of carpintes-not sure what strain-guarding eggs inside the pot. I have some previous fry available CHEAP!!

Some nanoluteus finally spawned after many months, you might see some tiny fry near the rocks.

A pair of Krobia guianensis-I have lots of 1" fry for sale-CHEAP!!

A pair of tetracanthus from Ira a year ago or so. They spawned a couple times but eat their fry. I saved some from one spawn that I am growing out.

Finally, a group of alfari I got from Cichlid Connection in FL. Some of these may be close to spawning size (I hope)

Hope you enjoyed-Mike

Wow... NICE! I got a pair of lyonsi from Ira a while back that are just as gorgeous as yours (wish my camera wasn't broken)! Mine's hang out together, but for whatever reason, I have not been able to get them to spawn again (they spawned for Ira before he shipped them to me). No clue why. Just gotta be patient, I guess.

I love those carpintis, man... not sure if they are vonts or not (my faves), but they are beauties, as are those tetracanthus! Nice collection!

Thanks guys. I have a 6" male Vont inanother tank and the carpintes in the above post are definitely different. The Vonts are more green and the spotting is not as well defined. These carpintes have very sharply defined spotting. I normal dress, they show quite a bit of blue, but my photography skills don't bring out that color very well, although they are more in spawning colors right now.

The female lyonsi did lay eggs once, a while ago when I first got them and had them in a 75 with a pair of Nicks and a pair of Sajicas. The eggs did not reach the wriggler stage. Since then, the male got rough and I've had to separate them so the female could heal up-Three times! He seems much more mellow right now and I hope they spawn soon.

For what it's worth, I have had to separate my male and female at times as well. So far, they've been good for about a month now... no serious fighting. Good luck with them!

Interesting enough, my vont is more blueish... but definitely a vont! Either way, you def have some really nice stock, man. Looking forward to any updates!

That's so cool you have all those different cichlid pairs. Loving the lyonsi and the cubans. Just out of curiosity what size did you get the cubans? And how big are they?

The Cuban male is 5"+ SL (maybe 6.5"TL) and the female is about 4"SL (~5"TL). I got them wild caught (I think) at about 2.5"-3" size from Ira down in the Bronx. Ira has some great quality stock. I've gotten many fish from him.

Thanks for looking and posting.
