thanks, that mono is the only stubborn cichla i own, he would rather starve than eat anything but feeders. i have been trying to switch him/her for months to shrimp or pellets, just wont take. my father told me today to try raising the water temp a degree a day and bring it up to 87-89 degrees, said it would get the mono to take other foods. anybody ever try this??

I've been trying for months to get my occel to take massivore ,shrimp or crawfish i havent had any success my temp is 86 all the time

changing the temp will make them more active and therefore hungrier.. but that isn't always a good thing.

offer the killed food or pellets daily. and once a week give him feeders, just enough to keep him from starving to death. he will eventually eat.. after you see him eat something you have offered, cut the feeders down to every other week. and soon you won't have to offer feeders at all anymore. i still get feeders for my cichla a few times a year just as a treat. but then they won't eat again for several days..
