Here's some very bad pictures of some of my madagascar cichlids. All really great fish. Sorry for the picture quality and water spots.

Most of the Madagascars are all very conspecific aggressive. All of the paretroplus have to be kept either divided or in groups of 6-8 or more to spread out the aggression. The lamena are the worst, they ignore everything else but go after each other like crazy. The ptychochromis are nippy but not nearly as bad with each other. I have kept them in smaller groups and as just pairs with success I would only recommend that will extreme caution. The paratilapia are very similiar to a jaguar in my opinion, just not as aggressive or as large.

In a large group the paretroplus all swim around together as the pictures show. They chase and nip but no real damage is done. Put just 2 of them together and you will have a war to the death though.

Very cool fish that are highly under appreciated and highly endangered. I recommend anyone that has a large tank to keep some of these fish. They are very active and owner responsive.

The ptychochromis grandidieri east coast gold are guarding fry right now:)!!!
