I wanted to share some of my wilds. The Festavum are just awsome fish, might be my favorites. I'm working on some Pterophyllum Altum too but they are still very small. All these fish have been feed NLS since I got them. The Leopoldi are bigger now that's an old picture, they are about silver dollar size now. For a few years noe I've been chasing the Pterophyllum "hat trick" all three species wild cought if I'm successful with the Altum I will achieve my "Big Year".

Nice fish, I love the Festivum as well! I have a WC Mesonauta as well, not sure if it is mirificus or insignis.

I'm also a fan of festivums. I have a group of M. insignis (I think ) in a 180g with a bunch of Geos and Acaras and they more than hold their own....They spawn all of the time on tall driftwood, the corner of the tank, the (sadly frequently used) magnet algae scrubber, etc.

Thanks they are not all in the same tank but they are interesting to watch. The Leopoldi group together and swim around like a group of fighter jets, it's very cool to watch.

I think insignis are a little smaller but I've never owned them. I think Al (Brewmaster from Simply) breeds them. Like I was just saying the Leopoldi are also a very interesting species you don't see too often. They are the smallest species of Angelfish but the closest relative to Mesonauta and might be the most aggresive of the Angelfish. You should give them a try.

I should try leopoldi angels - breed some and I'll trade you some insignis festivums

My male M. insignis are about 6" or so. I lost the male of my pair of M. guiyayensis (sp?) but the female is nearly 8"...
