some pointer on building a plywood aquarium please?!

hit guy i and going to sart my 180 gallon prject soon just wondering should i double the ply up on the wall or will 3/4 inch plywood waterproofed hold all that water? and also do you screw the plywood rite to the the other plywood in the corner or do you need some kind of studs in the corners? thanks in advance fellow mfk members
trying to get it rite the first time so theres no problem dont want my living room a swimming pool lol.:grinno: cant wait to start it got put on hold do to mmy shoulder injury hoping to start next week if the doctor gives me the ok to lift wait with my shoulder. thanks for the help again guys!!!
 
I'll chime in...

The first thing you'll hear around here (because its true) is that 180gal is way below the cost-effectiveness threshold to make a build worthwhile. Unless you're in it for the satisfaction of DIY. You're going to spend over the cost of buying one and it'll cost you a lot of time and effort too and the result will be a summary of your build skills.. (in other words, it might leak)

But to answer your question, 3/4 ply is fine though it depends on the depth you're planning... but its doable no matter the depth if you use the right level of reinforcement. Check through the DIY section to get an idea of the various builds that was done and successful.

There are successful ones that are just a plywood box... but I think the failure rate is higher to try this route... better are the rigid wood frames with a plywood lining. Doubling up is definitely better than not doubling up. Especially if you're planning on using a brittle epoxy to seal which the slightest flexing will make crack.
