Hello folks,
I will buy a new Tank in a few months and would really appreciate some advice, since I got some contradictionary recommendations.
So please tell me your opinion and/or suggestions!
I will move soon and love Astronotus ocellatus.
So I would like to keep one together with a young Kissing Gourami, two Bristlenose Plecos and 4 Hoplo catfish.
The tank's dimensions are 5 ft long x 20 inches wide x 2 ft high.
Maybe even 4 inches longer and wider, I will see.
Do you think that community could work?
I would put in the Oscar and the Gourami at the same time, and they would be around the same size.

Is it possible to use fine Sand as bottom? The catfish like it, but I am not sure if it is a wise choice due to the Oscar's digging and my Filtration may swallow tooo much Sand.

How about livng plants in the tank?
Yes, I know some will be dug out, but I saw some planted O's tanks yet.
Which plants work?
Thank you for your answer!

BN's might get eaten, not sure on the gourami; if the hoplo get to around at least 4 inches and stocky, they'd be fine I imagine

Hello, they are at least four inches long too, and will have about a year to grow before the Oscar hits 10 inches.
Might they be eaten anyway?

Oscars grow dang fast if in proper tank and water. and they will eat what ever they can stuff in there mouths.
