I recently bought 3 peacock bass ranging from 6-9". They were overnight shipped to me and I received them on Friday around noon. I accimilated them, kept the lights off for a day and they all made it okay. My problem is it is now going on 3 days of having them and they are very skittish and will not eat. I have tried bloodworms, I have about 20 small sized golfish in the tank that they should have no problem eating (size wise they are just right). Will this skittishness and no appetite for food go away soon? My tank temperature is at 84 degrees, all water parameters are good... maybe they just take a while to get used to there surroundings? Right now they are acting more skittish than my old pygo piranhas, they eat almost instantly after arriving too.

what kind of decorations are in the tank? are there plants (even fake ones work) or places to hide? is the bottom of the tank bare? some peacock bass are freaked out by bare bottom tanks.

i just changed my orino's tank last week and they are still doing the "ooo i'm scared of you" thing even though nothing has really changed except the box of water they are in. i moved all of their gravel and decorations from their old tank, but the lighting is different so i'm guessing that that is what is bothering them.

they usually come around in a week or two. Mine are starting to eat again.. but only enough to stay alive rather than stuffing themselves like they normally do.

i think Tems are the worst, they get skittish at any change at all.. and it takes them a long time to get used to new surroundings

I have a mixture of 3m colorquartz and tahitian black moon sand for the bottom of the tank, it has 2 large fancy plants on both sides that they hide in when they see me. When they forget im there they come out in the middle of the tank and swim around a bit. That's all I have for the decoration, the background is painted black (on the outside).

They are probably just getting used to there new environment like you said, I will be patient.. I just want them to eat some because they look rather skinny atm.

They are in a 180 gallon tank right now. Not sure really if they are wild or not. I will find out.

heh... i just think that bass need to acclimiate to there surrounding enviornment the shock off shipping may be a great stress kinda like stickin you in a bathroom for what ever that shipping time was. but other then that im pretty sure they will get out of that throw in some feeders to excitethem into comin out.
