Hi guys ive made myself a hatchery, im using a few soda bottles with the bottoms cut off and airlines inseted into the caps, then im putting the bottles in my spare 25 gal aquarium full of water so i can provide the right temp and light if needed. Now i have one question, and if someone can answer it i will be very happy. Basically how much salt do i add to a certain amount of water? ive read that some ppl use 15grms of salt per 500ml of water, others use 2 tablespoons per 1 gallon. I have 3 bottles prepared for the hatchery so im gonna need atleast 1 gallon of water. How much salt do i need to add to the water? Oh by the way im using decapsulated eggs floating in some type of solution. Last time i hatched BBS was a good few years ago using a pre made sachet with salt and eggs added, so i need to get the saline mix just right. Any help would be most appreciated.

You might try any salt dosage you see online but you can vary the dosage to fit your own needs. Changing the amount of salt used will change the yield(depends on your eggs too).

By the way, for decapsulated eggs, they will hatch quite quickly.

I think im gonna use 2 1/2 tablespoons of salt per gallon and see how i get on with that. My severum eggs hatched this morning so if i start cultivating tomorrow i should have some ready frozen and some live all ready for the young. Preferably i want to feed live BBS but im also gonna freeze a lot so i have always got supplies if i need them.

Yeah. That would do the trick. try changing the salt dose til you get the optimal one.
