i was wondering if i were able to put a bit of salt in my flower horn tank because i was thinking of buying an archer fish. I feel they would do well together...i know i can make archer fish fresh water however, they prefer some salt...was wondering what i should do?

First of all just about every member of the cichlid family enjoys a little amount of salt in the tank. As far as fully brackish thats pushing it a little far not recommended. Also I will tell you strongly that your assumption about these two geting along is wrong and a bad move! Even if it works for a little while. The Flowerhorn will end up beating the poor Archer to a pulp! Better off finding a more suitable tankmate.

what is a suitable tankmate for the flower horn? what other nice fish that only get to a max of 10 inchs are suitable tank mates for flower horns?

It really depends on the personality of the fish and the amount of tank space you have as well as how you set up the envirornment. I have housed them with texas cichlid, green terror, butikuferi talapia, large african cichlids, jags, jack dempseys dorado and so forth. The key is the fish must be strong enough to command a little respect or fast enough to get away:D Cat fish will also work but I have found bottom fish annoy them because of eating habbits. This pis*es them off and they will tend to be more hostile to them.

if u want a tank mate for ur flowerhoprn u should look into other larger cichlids or maybe a pleco or sumthin likek that
