I believe you people have heard of some RTG been sold as (red x RTG) ya? Maybe this pictures may help in telling apart a true specimen or just some claimed one which some will try to sell off common RTG at higher pricing.

Take note of the inner core of the scales. You will see a fade reddish or pinkish lining in each scales. They got these markings from a RED. And the intensity of the fish will be much better than an average RTG.

What I'm showing is some poorly taken picture of a 1 year plus specimen in my tank.:) Just for guide.

that's nice to know, still, in my opinion, they should be cheaper... i mean there are enough strain allreadyy, and there is nothing like having a pure strain... ;)

Doubt so. Even a Tong Yan cost more than a xb even thought like you said they're not pure.

But I dun mind the hybrid between a RTG and a red for the coluration and higher shine can be achieve. Why not?

Actually, there's no such thing of a first class RTG. What I'm showing is a hybrid between and Super red and a RTG. Result of better colouration and scales and finages.

so is there a way we can check between a super RED and nicer RTG when they are young?

Yes you may as long the fish is 6 inches onwards. But it's not as easy as just showing what it is. You need to look for scales development and finages markings and colouration.
