i've had the sveni almost a year. she's growing great. she began eating pellets this fall which is great. before she would only eat freeze dried krill and frozen stuff. her belly will get piker depending on the day.

Nice pictures Sean, your Blue 33 looks great, I really wish I knew what sex mine are. I plan on venting them this weekend hopefully I will have a definitive answer by then. Do you have a heater in you Punctata tank? I keep two in a take with no heater temp is 66-68F.; the larger one is in a heated tank.

Nice ones Sean!

Ed, can I ask how you could tell? I was told that they are unsexable unless you vent them. . .

Just from collecting them with Felipe, what he showed me, that looks like way too much pink/purple in the dorsal and caudal to be male, especially at that size. I have some females that don't have much pink but my males don't have any (in captivity). In the wild, females always had pink in the dorsal as adults and males at the size of Sean's never had pink. So I think if there is no pink in the dorsal at that size, then you don't know the sex, but if there is it's probably female. Venting is the best though!

Ed

i remember you saying that in another thread ed, thanks

jumbie, she's in an unheated tank now. when i first got her i had a heater in the tank because of the ich. the temps now remain about 72F in the tank
