Hello everyone!!! My name is Samantha and I am in neeeed of some help! About 6 months ago I went to pick up a Geophagus Altifron. A local military man was being deployed and couldn't take his fish. Once we got there he showed us the Geayi's although he had no idea of what they were. We instantly loved them. He stated they were male and female but had never mated. They were about 2 maybe 3 inches with the male being 1/2 inch bigger than the female. We bought them and took them home. Originally we added them into our 125 community cichlid tank with no problem. Over time we began to notice the male who we named Mr. Smith, was being a bit of a bully. Nothing too serious just a little on the aggressive side. Eventually we needed to re do our 125 so everybody came out and went into another tank as we did that. When it came time to put everybody back we put Mr and Mrs Smith into a 45 corner tank along with our 12 Kribs. Overnight we lost 4 Kribs. Throughout the first day we lost 4 more. My hubby said it wasn't the Bandits since they are not aggressive. I called BS and moved the bandits back to the 125. Instantly Mr Smith began bullying everyone including my 3 inch Green Terror. I thought maybe they wanted to mate so I set up a 30 long and moved them over to it last night. This morning when I got up I immediately checked on them and Mr Smith had bullied Mrs Smith into one corner of the tank and she was almost lifeless. Her beautiful coloring had turned almost completely black. Obviously I snatched her out and put her BACK to the 125. I don't know what to do. Everything I have read about these fish say they are NOT aggressive. Can anybody help me????[h=1][/h]
I've never heard of geo's that were aggressive... than again, you can get a really nice community oscar like the one that i had. He wouldn't even eat a fish that could fit into his mouth lol.
