I thought it was a leptobarbus hoevenii. I was digging through the fish atlas and saw it but was unsure about the mouth. The LFS was selling it as a pink tail chalceus. Since I said that it wasnt they gave it to me for free. Deformed or not, I think I'll keep it. I guess I'll finally get around to making a deformed/birth defect fish tank.

Just found a pic of two different barbs. Maybe the face distinguishes sex?

maybe it does differentiate the sexes, but it definately isnt a pink tailed chaleus.

pretty sure it's an asian barb
if it was a south american tetra family it would have a mini 2nd dorsal called an adipose fin

Well aparently mine do. I got the fish last night and was doing great. Today I find that my fei feng destroyed it. Scales and meat gone. Damn I hate fei fengs
