Hello all,

I'm new to this forum site so far it seems like a very nice forum site.

I currently have a 50 gallon fish tank awaiting for fish to be put in.

Do you guys/gals think that aerowana is to big for this tank?

I was thinking maybe 1 Aerowana and like 2 Pacus.

If the tank is 50 gallon would the Aerowana adapt to the size of the tank and not grow any more?

Thanks :help2:

You're kidding right?
Welcome and from the bottom of my heart, please please PLEASE read more. Any 1 of those fish will outgrow the tank in no time flat.

yea.....start with dwarf cichlids.

thats a crazy idea, but if you like fish like that you could always try silver dollars which are related and look a bit like pacu and instead of the arowana a small species of south american knife fish like a bgk

welcome to MFK.
First of all, I'm new here too but I'm learning a lot with these guys, girls;
50g is small to AROWANA, and PACUS, both of them outgrow a lot, the aro in no time.
you can start with some ciclids.
and the mith that the fish grows adpated to size of the tank is just it - a mith - its not true.

Welcome to MFK
You really need a monster tank for Arowana, Pacu and the like they get big fast. There are many slow growing fish you can keep in a 50 for some time like a Green terror etc. but you have to upgrade eventually, if you can't or don't want to upgrade then look at other fish that may interest you that won't outgrow the tank. And no the fish don't stop growing because you put them in a small tank they get stunted and die prematurely.
Ask lots of questions about and research the fish that you like and you will not only find it easier to properly care for your fish but you will save your self a lot of trouble later on down the road.
