i have had african cichlids for many years with no problems of diseases etc. have had them die from power outages. but i brong home some new fish to a aquarium that stressed them or gave disease probably the disease because they are all dead but a few and i have had many for 4 years or so. they are not eating and they have no apearance of any external paracites. i have a 100 gallon tank and i have lost over 500$$$ in fish very rappidly. please please give some feed back on what i can do. hurry down from many fish to five an only two eating

do massive water change and raise heat and add aquarium salt until you get a better response from others. I don't know what it is, but it has apparently polluted your tank, and needs to be dilluted and treated... can you post pictures and post how long ago you purchased the sick fish and maybe more description of the current fish. species and tank info size and specifics?

not sure how to get pics on here, but i have yellow blaze, blue ahli, anchor island, and a neolamprologus leleupi . not for sure on the regular name for leleupi. i have done two 10 % water changes and salted and stress treated. i still have two fish not eating, the yellow blaze and blue ahli. i am raising temp right now because you asked to try. was going to raise to 84 or 85f. my tank is actually 95 gallon the fish were purchase few weeks before all this started to happen. i posted few days but that was incorrect it was weeks. i had one not eat from the beggining and then they started dropping one by one. i keep ph at 8.2 and i changed filters recently. how much salt and what temp and how long should i treat.. just wanted to say thanks very much for responding its been frustrating not gettin any help.

did fish start dying after you changed filters?

and, did you transfer old bio media into the new filter? if not, that could be the whole problem. basically, no beneficial bacteria and increasing the stock at same time.

i have two 90 gallon hang on back pumps with bio wheels and i always check my nitrates and nitrites. changed carbon filters. and did water change. fish started dying before anyway. they seem to be doing a little better. i will check and get back tomorrow . thanks for the feed back and cute kid

i would do a bigger water change, like 50%. if the water is tainted, it needs to go. I would do 50% 1 day and 20% for a couple days. If it is not external, can you tell if it is internal. like funky stringy poop? or swollen belly? I have a Flowerhorn that is having issues right now, so i recently read up on several diseases. there is meds for internal parasites or disease. I would google fish disease and research or go to forum and choose the one that is in relation to medical... there is a forum for it.

I agree, look for white stringy poop. not eating is associated with IPs, I believe in more advanced cases.
Salt won't help IPs, but Epsom salts can help by a slight laxative purging their gut. but they'd also need real IP medications.

People asked for pics of your fish, not to see what species they are, but to see their condition. If you can get pics in your computer, then you can follow instructions for uploading in your Profile pages.

your filter carbon has to be removed while medicating the tank.
