I caught my common pleco (eugene) sucking on my senegal (trogdor) last night and it kinda freaked me out. I'd read that this can be very dangerous for bichirs. It apparently hasn't been going on for too long as there are no visible marks on the bichir. As such, I'm thinking of moving the Pleco to my buddy's pond and need to know if there are other algea eaters that are compatible with bichirs. any suggestions anyone?

Hypanmagnetus Scrapus will remove more algae than any other pleco.

I actually had to look twice!!
Trapdoor and other "pond" snails wont hurt your bichirs and they actually do a decent job eating algae.
