I was trying to look for species of Knife fishes that are from the Gymnotiformes order and grow in between 30"-39" (or somewhere near that size) but alas I only found one Rhamphichthys rostratus. So if anyone knows of anymore that grow around those sizes please tell! Thank you

You can go with a Longtail Knife aka Goldline Knife (Sternopygus Macrurus) They grow a little over the 3' mark and are pretty territorial.

now when you say territorial do you mean to other electric fishes or to just fish in general?

Interesting thing about that...Electric fish don't really bother each other as a lot may think. There is no "crossing frequencies" with electric fish. They seem to sense each other, but don't really bother each other.

When I said, territorial...I meant against it's own kind, but will probably dislike any other fish that tries to invade it's hiding space. They seem to be similar to BGKs, but are a little more aggressive from what I can find.

oh okay yeah I was reading some of the articals ppl bring up acationally in this section and one said somethings about how electric fishes react with each other. So how well do you think it would be with a P. Endli, a short nose gar, and a black aro?

Should be fine as long as there's some hiding spots. How big is the tank?

At the lab, the gold lines don't bother any other knifefish at all. In fact, they are the one we keep with almost every time of knifefish... they are rarely kept in their own tank.

We have some of those together and they do scuffle occasionally but they rarely kill each other.

EDIT: gold line is another name for Sternopygus macrurus... not trying to confuse anyone

hmm so it sounds to me that they are actually preatty mellow fish, then why does everyone says there really predatory and have a lot of the same habits as an Aba aba?

But you having experince seeing that they are find together, makes it kind of hard to think "no it won't work". Would you know if they maybe kept, only males and females together or something like that also how big is the tank they kept them in? Because that could cause some diffrence in their nature.

But I guess it doesn't really matter to much in my case because I'm only planning on keep one with different fish species, but it would still be nice to know for future refrence.
