In The Jungle
The burn occured almost 2 weeks ago, The heater has since been covered. But A few days ago I noticed these raised dots just below the burned area. What is this? REALLY hard to catch it at the correct angle with the ray not staying still but this pic should do it. HELP!!!! PH6.4 (have removed some driftwood 2 days ago. Crushed coral in a eheim to courteract the wood. Amo 0, Nit 0, Na btw 0 and second shade. Water change done avery 4 days or so, About 25%:screwy:

Seen this before, its not life threatening so don't worry, its a bit like a wart, pretty sure its not connected to the burn, will more than likely disappear. I wouldn't treat it,just leave it alone,it will bother you much more than it does the ray.

Zero nitrates w/ a big ray??? Theres no way my friend! Are you guessing ur params or are u actually testing? My tap off the bat has 5-10ppm before i even put the water in the tank!

Id crank temp to 82 and turn lites of for a few days and let him heal. Keep water perfect or itll stress

yer ive got a pearl with this on it (not one of yours richard) was from lee, it started about ! well i first saw it two days after he got here, dont seem to bother the ray and like you said just winds me up because i can see it lol

Thanks everyone. Yes, it looks warty. Makes sense, thought rays didn't tolerate water above 78ish? I change water ofter due to my stock and I run 2 2217 and 2 2215 eheims with some powerheads. The nitrates/ites and ammo have been out of wack but I guess I've caught up to it with water changes (and no I don't guess the values, I use a test kit obviously)

just like people. some have huge moles, some have few to none. it is also possible that rays kept in harder water grow calcium deposits in their skin which look like bumps/tumors.

It will take awhile to heal, I wouldn't be concerned yet at all. Keep the temp right where it's at. No need to toss an additional change at this ray right now. Also, turning up the temp will only increase the ability to have bacteria take off if you aren't running meds in the water. It's a mistake a lot of people make. Higher temp will also lower the disolved oxygen level if you don't add aggitation to it. Lower DO will be another form of stress for the ray at this point that you just don't need. The redness is expected and nothing to worry about.

If you read his post, he didn't say ZERO nitrates... it says the test showed low amounts (between zero and the second shade). Your tap nitrate has nothing to due with what his water parameters are testing out at.

I've stared at this ray since day one for hours. The bumps seemed to pop up overnight. Have removed a lot of wood from tank to make space but I wouldn't expect it to have such an immediate effect on calcium buildup in the ray. More info PLEASE
