So i have owned 3 wolf fish in the past 5 years of fish keeping. The first was killed by my jag, the next some how jumped out of the tank, and the last was killed by my loiselli cichlid a relative of the jag. I dont have too much luck with them but from time to time i keep catching myself wondering what i would have to get rid of in my tank to get another. Right now i have a 75 growout tank up with ( 1 jag, 1 5 inch jd, 1 2 inch jd, 14 inch mota/loiselli cichlid, 1 convict, 1 sveni pike, 1 7 inch clown knife. Yes thats a lot of fish for a 75 but all are small and im just weeding out the fish that woont work in the future when i take the 150 out of the garage at my parents and get a bigger place after i get married. If i found another common wolf fish what would i have to get rid of to keep it in the 75 fpr about a year or so. All feeding is regulated to keep growth on the slower side but the fish do not starve by any means. Out of all the fish the ck is a fav due to the fact that its a fish my fiance bought me. What do you guys think...?

I have had a few Wolves myself. Largest, and longest kept (16" Malabaricus, 5 years old est) was, and still is my favorite fish ever. Death By Floor...big strong fish.
Anyway, what I really want to communicate to you is that you are walking a fine line here. If you happen to get a Wolf that is not killed by any of your Cichlids (the Jag and Mota/Loiselli being the largest issue IMO), you will end up losing a Cichlid. If you want to ensure the survival of your Wolf, get a bigger Wolf...but then you put your Cichlids at risk. That Mota/Loiselli is seriously huge btw, 14"?! I would love to see a pic if you have.

sorry no pics. i was told it has the apperience of both due to its color but every week it looks more and more like a loiselli i just wrote mota/loiselli cuz i havent figured out what it is yet. ill post a pic tomar i just have to take a good one. My cichlids arent big so if i could find a small one it would be ok as there is very little aggression in my tank

Wolves are not meant to co-hab with cichlids, In South America larger wolves prey upon smaller cichlids and larger cichlids prey upon smaller wolves, Any "Punk" cichlid should not be kept with wolves because someone is going to die in the end. I say once you get a bigger house and fill up the 150 buy a wolf and keep him with other "Large" fish that will not be picking on him. Sorry if it can't work out but thats just how it goes.

i was just wondering because i figured if i put them together while young it would have a better chance at working. No biggy if it wont ill just stay with what i have till the 150 goes up.
