For quite some time I have had quite an aversion to man made catfish species. However, I have been finding tiger shovelnose cats so hard to get beyond 12” (often sooner) before they start death spiralling for no apparent reason, so a little reluctantly I bought two tsnxrtc man made cross cats. Boy are they different. They come with the good patterning of the tsn and the hardy nature of the rtc. I can sure see the draw. That then got me thinking, what other man made cats are out there.
A UK vendor I found appears to have a number of them, some I have seen before, some I have not, albeit the prices for these are a bit man made too.
Here are a few you may know, and maybe some you don’t.

Sure there are more so have a go at guessing the parents of these.
Will leave it a few days and let you know what they were, or at least what they are supposed to be. Interested to see any others.
Note that any of those above would set you back £150 although a 12cm tigrinus with these guys is £1000 so prices seem ……………….. awry.

I don't like where you are going but you are a free man and a precious peer.

FD: ... I have been finding tiger shovelnose cats so hard to get beyond 12” (often sooner) before they start death spiralling for no apparent reason...
TBTB: I have several types of fish that exhibit the same problem, partially or wholly. TSNs are coincidentally from the partial group. Currently 2 survived of 5. It also depends on tank / system, so I believe it's some pathogen in some of my systems that affects mine.

1) The usual TSNxRTC hybrid

2) The usual TSNxachara hybrid

3) IDK this one as a baby. Perhaps I know it as an adult or subadult if I have seen it. There seems a resemblance to a Zungaro zungaro, if not it anyway.

4) I recognize this picture. It's from Segrest (USA supplier) from about 15 years ago. I believe this is merely a Zungaro zungaro baby, not hybrid. Also makes me suspicious that your vendor uses photos that are not theirs and that are so old. Something smells fishy.

5) TSNxachara shortbody mutant. IMHumO ugly as sin.

Nice one Victor.
Thankfully these are still NOT for me. As much as I like my two tsnxrtc I won’t be looking for other man made cats.
1) as you say TSNxRTC
2) again TSNx achara
3) supposedly RTCxAchara
4) supposedly RTCxPerruno which would be one hell of a find as I have never seen a true perruno for nigh on 30 years
5) supposedly TSNxPerruno which again would be a rare find.
This place reckons they can get any of these in 7 days.
Not sure I agree with what they think they are, and I won’t be placing any orders.
If anything I would give them the challenge of getting me a true Perruno cat in that time, although how they will prove it’s not simply an achara would be interesting.
