As the title says I am not 100% what this is so thought I would post up a few pics and ask.

For a bit of background. A little over two weeks ago I moved my Midas into a 70G to be alone and have a bit more space. While I was moving I thought seeing as I had him/her out of the tank I may as well see what the vent looked like and it was definitely more of a O-o so my guess was female. For the first week she was doing great, eating, digging, moving stuff around, begging for food, chasing the gravel vac, normal cichlid hi-jinx.

Then about 7 days ago she stopped eating pellets. If I offered her staple Hikari she would take them in her mouth then just spit them out. I normally give bloodworm once a week, so tried that and no problem she ate the lot. Since then its been the same, no pellets, but has taken bloodworm. For the last 3 days I have fed nothing, hoping to make her take pellets again when I offer them after 5 days.

Then yesterday I noticed a small protrusion in the vent area. Please see the pics below. Is this her egg tube (not sure if this is the proper term?)? or is it something else? Sorry if the pics aren't too clear . . . .

Looks like an anal prolapse.

Stop feeding. Water changes regularly.

Thanks for the speedy reply Miguel. Damn, is it caused by overfeeding? So just stop feeding, keep the WC regime going and it should right itself?

It is aused, among other possibles, by fat in food, so yes, overfeeding and fatty foods has an impact on it.

Most of the cases i know, with spot on water and fasting retract.

Agree with the Epsom salt. Add at lib. No harm done.
