He has had this growth on his fin for a little while now, and it never seemed to bother him. For the last week or so he seems to be having trouble getting around, and kinda just sits on the bottom. He seems to be breathing a little harder than the other fish at times. He comes up for food, but goes right back to the bottom. I keep a clean tank, and do water changes etc. all the other fish in the tank are just fine including the other 2 cons he has been living with for the entire time I'v had them.

Whats wrong with him, and is it fixable? Keep in mind I have to fix him in the tank he's in, so putting him in a "Rehab" tank to give him meds, and such is out of the question. Lemme know what you think.

ive never seen anything like that on a CICHLID. looks like the cysts that some larger cats get.

Im a maintenance man and someone left behind a 25 gal tall tank , so i thought cool it was so filthy i didnt even see fish in it till i started to drain it and there were 2 8" oscars and a couple small convicts the oscars looked good but the cons had that "fungus" on there fins just like that . Acted normal despite that but eventually they had to be put down . I tried everything heat, salt, melafix, quick cure, parasite meds and fungal meds nothing worked. I didnt try broad spectrum anti biotics though it may be worth a try . Sorry i cant help you :(

look like some kind of infection or growth/syst...... if the convict had even a small cut/ crack in his sensitive fin scales a syst can deffinitly make itself at home
