I have noticed a lot of problems with my american eel lately and I am unsure of what to do about them. I don't know if they are related or if he is afflicted with multiple problems. I can't identify any although the tail problem appears fungal.
Here is the first problem on his tailfin. It appears on both sides, and the greying blotches run a little up his underside fin as well.
He is about 2.5feet long.
The second problem concerns his belly. He has two dark spots on it, each about a centimeter in diameter. One has come and gone in the past, but one has remained and appears to be getting darker.Unfortunately I could not take pictures of either, as it is very difficult to get him on his side.
I have also noticed a bloating in abdomen area.
Can anyone help me identify these problems and suggest a treatment? (Remember that he's an eel and so has a special slime coating along with extremely small, imperceptible scales.) All help is greatly appreciated.
