Something wrong with my Kelberi

He's still eating like a pig, it started out with just one scratch on his 3rd bar but has lead to this. My other kelberi is fine. Is there some sort of infection or is it just from bumping into the driftwood/fighting?

Looks like he scratched himself up. My cichla has done that before.

Fighting would usually result in rip fins/tail. Doesn't look like fighting.

As a precautiom I would add melafix a couple days.

I've had a few cichla get that when they spaz out in the tank and bump into decor/driftwood. as long as it doesn't look infected, it should clear up on its on within a few days. as a precaution, you could add melafix but clean water is really all you need.

Agreed! This looks like a scrape to me. Happens to our pbass sometimes when, as mentioned above, they spaz and clip a piece of driftwood or rock. We usually put a little salt in to help our fish heal when they injure themselves.

alright thanks guys ill add some salt, water should be clean. I do 2x 50% WC weekly

self- inflicted, aquarium salt would prevent infection.

My PB have that too, just some deco Driftwood scratches... Monitor that there's no infection.
