something wrong with new clown loach

Recently picked up 2 new CLs to add to my existing school. They're around 2" and I think they're the Surinam morph, which I've never seen before. One of them has settled in quite well but the other one (which is even cooler since it's got an oddball "jigsaw" pattern) just sits off in a corner by itself. It looks like its mouth is permanently wide open and it's always hyperventilating. It's shown no interest in food.

All the other fish (including the loaches) look fine.

Water temp is 80-82
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 20-30ppm

Any suggestions of what's wrong and what to do? This is a really cool looking loach and I don't want to lose it.

Quarantined for 8 days. I usually do longer but they looked ich-free and seemed pretty stressed out in the quarantine tank so I thought they might eat better in the main tank.

What acclimation procedure did you use when adding them to the quarantine tank? And later when moving them from quarantine to the main tank?

Drip acclimated over about 3hrs in each case. Same water conditions in both tanks, but I had salt in th Q tank as preemptive ich treatment. The other new loach is fine, so I'm guessing there was a preexisting problem with the one that died.

Sorry to hear. How did you add the salt in the QT tank? How big was the QT tank?

one of my clwns had that aswell, but that was bcoz i treated them with esha for whitespot i didnt realise one had whitespot when i got him and then four out of five died, now only one left, healthy and strong.
