So about an hour ago I go into the fishroom, mostly to check on my bp Patch (she has a lump on her side I'm trying to treat). Water all over the fish room floor! Kong's (bp) tank is down a few inches. So I'm like wtf, did her tank burst a seam? I was in there earlier and everything was ok.

Turns out the hose to her air stone had come loose from the check valve, so water was siphoning onto the floor behind the tank! The air stone was acting like a sponge and just sucking water up through the line. Another 30 minutes and I'd probably have 40 gallons on the floor. I have no idea how the hose worked loose. I may just silicone the sucker.

Always an adventure with fishkeeping.

Maybe she pulled it off ?grabbed the tube with her mouth and yanked with her might. Knowing your cichlids I wouldnt put it past her to attempt a trick.

My favorite is when my large cichlids rip out air lines from sponge filters or out from under rocks and leave them under the intake for my canisters. It’s happened to me twice in the last 10 years and I was lucky that the filters didn’t burn up from running dry.
