my crested gecko came today from Vicious_fish..he is so darling (the gecko, not V_F...although he is very nice!). His or her name is Sorbet, had to share some pictures.

The tank came out great! I noticed that when I was packing Sorbet that he/she is starting to get some dalmatian spots. That gecko fires up really nice too. Should be a real looker when full grown.

It's funny, I did not notice the dalmation spots in the photos you had, but now I look back at them and I notice them. So cute!

He's loving the tank, crawling all over the vines and found his sleeping spot at the top under the fake bamboo stuff. There is one live spider plant in the back. I'm going to set up the 30 gallon this weekend and get the plants started in that for when he's older, but this tank works out fantastic for now, am glad you told me to go smaller, poor thing would have been totally lost in the 30.

I was so annoyed at the postal worker....she walked in to deliver him to me at work and I said "Oh, my new pet gecko is here!" and she looks at the box and SHAKES IT before handing it to me! Sheesh.

I had quite the adventure shipping that gecko. I figured when I was out getting crickets I would stop at the post office in the next town over where the pet shop is. I took the box into the post office and the guy behind the counter asked me it the "Fragile" and "This side up" signs were important. I said yeah because there's a living thing in the box. This guys eyes got all wide and he said "what's in here?" I told him a gecko and he said I couldn't ship it with the USPS. He said they weren't allowed to ship live animals. I told him the post office in my town is fine with it and I've even told them before that the packages contain live geckos. He didn't care so I went to my usual post office 20 minutes away. I get there and the guy already came and picked up the overnight packages. AHHH!!! So it's now almost 4:00 so I fly to the next town over's post office just in time to ship it. Like I said it was quite the adventure and it looks like I'm sticking with my normal, home town post office from now on.

Oh no! All that on top of everything else going on for you this week. I appreciate it though!

I used to own a hatchery (ducks and chicks) and we shipped our chicks USPS all over the country. Of course they ship live animals. A box full of stinky, squawking turkeys is a heck of a lot more noticeable than a gecko in a box too, goodness.

nice
