So my little cousin asked me to take his pleco because he bought a common pleco but only has a 10g tank...It go too big (like 5/6") so I'm going to house it for now. But the pleco seemed weird for a common plec, it had yellow spots. It's deff not a golden nugget, but I can't really tell what it is. Any ideas?

Looks like pterygoplichthy joselimaianus.

That's interesting! I don't think it's a Pterygoplichthys. The body seems too compressed and the tail shape looks different.
I'm thinking it's some type of Hypostomus. When it puts it up, how big is the dorsal fin?

While I don't think it is based on the pictures showing it from above, from the side it looks a bit like a female Pseudancistrus barbatus.

Whatever it is, it's not a Common Pleco. Is that what it was sold to your cousin as? Any idea where it came from?

He bought it at one of the big chain stores here in Montreal. It was mixed in with the common tank.

The dorsal fin is pretty big, like at least 1.5"-2" high. I'll try n snap a pic of it when it flares
