i went to my favortie fish storre yesterday to spread the ]v[ovement and i noticed a little middle dwelling fish in the discus tank. i didnt bring my camera ....Doh!:duh: but ill try to describe it in hopes someone can id it. its an slender fish with a brownish body and a black lateral stripe. its mouth was slightly upturned and all its fins were clear. but what got my atenention was that its pectoral fins, tho clear were kept horizontal and were shapped much like an arrowana's or african b-fly's but smaller and more proportional to the fish. but it gets even stragner. there is no price of the tank so i ask what and how much it is but the employee responds, "we got it in with the feeders", so now im thinking i might score majorly so i say ill buy it, then he says "i already tried to sell it, its too fast i cant catch it..... sorry". so im going back today to try my luck again and to bring it home, photograph it, post the pics uphere and hopefully by then i might have some idea of what it is. i already browsed through a million pictures of north american minnows with no luck and i dont know where else to look...... thnx in advance fello ]v[Fk'ers

I can't help with the ID but the statement (already tried to sell it, its too fast i cant catch it..... sorry) is one of the dumbest I have ever heard from a pet store employee.. Tell him you will catch it yourself...

Tell him he should get a job as a fight pilot or something that requires slower reactions:D

I've caught my own fish at the request from some employees when they lacked the skill, speed or in some cases height. other than that when i was working with fish in retail no one touched the tanks with out permission. both me and my department manager ended up on the carpet for tearing both customers and other employees new ones for meddling where the didnt need to be.

good luck getting them to catch it, i'm sure they'll let you do it yourself if you ask nicely and they get frustrated :D.

PS last time i went pick up some more female convicts the employee handed me a bucket (five gallon) and a net and told me to have fun she'd be up front waiting lol. 15 females later i was trundling my feeder breeders home :D. gotta love cheap convict sales

so got him myself and brought him home(wasnt really that hard), they charged me $2 cuz it was the same cost as all the other fish i bought (some panda corys for my 10gallon). i think its some kind of danio, so im gonna do a search on them, my camera isnt working tho so i try to get that up and running and mabe u guys can help

kind of looks like a tetra but not. hmmmm

well i went through the entire fishbase entry for danios and hes not there.............

might go ahead and do tetras scince tho i dont think thats what he is......
