ok so once some red terror fry i have grow out i will have a 20g Long that i want to do as a planted tank, was thinking about fish to put in it and iv always had a soft spot for angels but never actually kept them, would i be able to keep maybe 2-3 in this tank? i thought they stayed small but then i was looking around and seems they might get bigger than i thought, exactly how big do angels get, would they stay small enough for a 20L? and what other fish would be good tankmates for them that are small enough for this tank?

Is this a 20 gal or a 20 L? If it is a 20 gal, you might be able to house 1 regular finned angel. I would not house any veil or super veil in that size tank. A regular angel can get to 7" including it's fins while veils and super veils even larger. As far as tank mates in a 20 gal, not much, at least in my opinion.

its a 20g Long so is 30in long giving more swimming space and thanks thats what i was reading but them i was reading other places that said some were smaller so was kind of confused, i would just get the regular angels that they sell at petco but if they get that big though i wouldnt have space for a pair and if i did angels would want at least a pair so i guess i will have to keep looking for something else that stays small enough for that tank :(

anyone think different i read somewhere that a breeding pair could be kept in a 15g (but we all know how erroneous some internet sites can be) would it make a difference that its a long tank giving more swimming space? if not what would you guys keep in this tank (besides neons or guppies) that are good with plants?

I wouldn't keep angel fish in it. Angels need something 2 times as tall as there body/fins. Yes, I think that it is true that you can keep a breeding pair in a tank that size.

ok so for angels it is the height of the tank that matters more? thanks for the advice yeah i guess will have to wait on the angels then, wouldnt want to put a pair in a tank they wouldnt be happy in

Yes, it depends more on the height then the length.
