I would like to add some sound-proofing under my tank for my sump. Where could I buy some peel and stick foil backed sound proofing like used in custom audio set-ups(trunks,etc)? The local car stereo shops around here only include it in a custom installation and won't sell it alone... Any ideas are appreciated!! Steve

Would like to sound-proof my cabinet doors under my tank...

Dynomat! I have it in my stand. It made a big difference. You can get it in the car stero section of wally world. It is expensive, though.

pep boys have it they have the spray too. also check best buy. try ebay too

I would never put that stuff anywhere that I wanted to stay nice. (or anywhere ever again). I'm sure brand names are better, but the peel'n'seal stuff you're talking about is prone to making a mess.

Dynomat is the best in the business and it's a peal and stick, You can get it at pretty much any car audio related store.

I'm surprised that your local shop won't sell you just the mat... they make a decent profit on it...

Beaware however that once applied it is pretty much going to look like hell if you try to take it off... at least with the good ones, it uses a glue which is almost like tar and doesn't come off worth a crap! It's made to stick!

I wouldnt use the spray.. use dynomat

Just use asphalt roll roofing. You are paying for the dynamat brand name, and all it is, is asphalt with a sticky backside. Cut the asphalt to any size you like and use a stapler with stainless steel staples to tack it in place. You could also get some spray adhesive or double sided adhesive tape.

Try the home improvement store for a rubber material with adhesive backing used to waterproof out side of foundations (more up north I think), the name eludes me at the moment. It comes in 3 ft wide rolls. Carpet works for sound deadening too, but you have to waterproof it or it's going to mildew and rot.

Actually Dynomat is made of a rubber component and is NOT made of Asphalt
