Now i am getting into the nit and gritty bit of keeping a large tank, by large i mean realy above 800g say.

How do you heat yours and what cost of running, what method, old fashioned heaterstat, under tank heater etc.

This is mainly at the countrys of similar climate as the UK or colder.

I am buildign a fishroom for my 1200g UK tank and it will be fully insulated aswell as the tank with 2 inch insulation, also the top will be 3/4 insulated.

wayne:)

BOO. Tropical fish ftw!

I would just say, get a bunch of heaters and pay like a million pounds for the cost of running them :D

Some options are great in the long run but cost a lot to set up, like solar powered batteries that charge all day and run as long as they can until normal power has to take over. A lot of people save huge $ by using a gas water heater like a typical house would have and modifying it to heat their tank. But that's assuming you'd pay less for gas than electricity.

I also plan to heat the fish room aswell as the tank, the fish room will be fully insukated aswell as the tank.
I can get free butane/propane cylinders which is a bonus:headbang2
