south american bichirs

We know from fossils, that bichirs did inhabtit south america. Dagetella is known from bolivia and latinopollia from bolivia and brazil. Both are from the maastrichtian and paleocene era.

Do you think some south american polypterids exist till today? Considering the fact, that the south american lungfish (lepidosiren) also made it till today and most of the south american is still unknown i believe thats possible.
 
I've brought up this same point before. I believe it is possible, would be worth at least some sort of expedition into the remote water ways.
