Ok basically I'm wanting to know how My Severums and my Oscar would live in the wild. I want to set up the the tank this way. If anyone has any pics or tips on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated

Are they wild caught fish or F1/2 from a known area, or just generic tank-bred fish? If you know where they're from you could probably research the specific area (try looking on fishbase.org if you don't know where they're from) and set up a more authentic biotope, otherwise IMO a sandy substrate + driftwood and maybe some leaf litter would be a good enough approximation of "the amazon".

I'm unsure of where they all came from honestly. My guess is just store bought. A couple of the Sevs may be F1/F2 or w.e, but I would say the test are not. I'm really just wanting the look. I have 6 Severums of different varieties, 1 13" Albino tiger Oscar, and some 2-5" geos. That's my S. American I also have a Fla Gar. But, yeah just didn't know what a true " Amazon" Biotope would be

My tank is just bare ATM and I thought it would be a cool look since the majority of my Fish are S. American.

That would be nice, just afraid my Oscar would rip up the plants

Large, tangled driftwood, leaves and sandy, muddy substrate is what I think of, although of course, the Amazon is huge and has many different areas. Iirc, There are at least 3: black water biotope, a brown muddy biotope, a white-water biotope. Not sure if the area near the ocean is designated as something else. Also, changes a lot depending on if its flooded or not.

There isn't one, there is everything from densly planted bits to baron rocky environments to blackwater rivers full of tangled driftwood to the flooded forest.

IMO the wood + sand + rocks type "amazon" look would go well fir the kind of fish you have.

Well I just rearranged it and I think it looks good. I'll post a pic in just a few

Here's a pic but with the black background and the weak light I have right now you can barely see it. Looks like my background is crinkled up :/ better fish that too lol
