I am looking for a medium sized cat to add to my south american community, preferably something in the 5-8 inch range. If I could find something with plenty of colour and is fairly active that would be an added bonus.

Any ideas?

asian sunacts and bumblebees are cool but obv not from america....

Go for spotted or striped talking catfish, though spotted stay smaller than the striped, and are equally beautiful. Only thing is they are more active only at night and in the day, usually stay hidden.

^ more like always stay hidden :).

I'd still recommend them though (Raphaels). The fact that you said SA CatfishWhy active really narrows your choices down though. If you want activity then P pictus are fairly active when young otherwise Corydoras would look good.

^ He wanted medium sized and cories wouldnt fall for this characteristics.;)

And agree that the term "active" would really narrow your search to pictus or pims since most of the cool looking cats in SA prefer to work the night shift and hide in the day, such as irwini, talking catfishes and plecos
