Hi there just looking for ideas for catfish for a 65 gallon tank its a 4ft powered by a Fluval FX5.

I was going to get a big group of cories but after seeing how my Aequidens Diadema can get through a school of blue tetras in 48 hours I dont think cories would be much of a challenge.

Ive got a sand base and a few plants will be adding much more over time as I get more money.

Current inhabitants are:
1 Aequidens Diadema
1 HRP (male)
3 Anostomus Ternetzi
1 L135
1 L235

Want something that is quite active but not overly boisterous. I was thinking maybe pictus? But not sure anyone got anything a bit different to suggest to me? I dont mind if its single fish or a group

Thanks N

What sort of thing are you looking for?
Somthing that will get no bigger than sat 6-8"
or a protental monster in the future?

I just got a Syno. Petricola Cat last weekend. They're African not SA but they do well about anywhere, max out about 5". Real active and real pretty. Just an idea. Here's a picture of one (not mine). If you just have to stick to SA my favorite are either the spotted or striped Rapahel. They grow so dang slow though.

Ah good call with the synos!! Had totaly forgot about them!!

I did want to keep it SA but to get things that will work might have to look further for it.

At the moment its between a trio of striped tailed hoplo or a jaguar catfish not sure yet. What do you think ?

I've never kept either of those. There's not enough tank space in Oklahoma for all the catfish I want. Sigh. If it were me I'd try to keep size under 6" if possible given it's a 65 g. I'd have a real hard time narrowing it down to even 2 or 3 Synos. They're my favorites.

some of the smaller south american bumblebee catfish would be an interesting choice, although you won't see them often.
