south american cichlid id?

can u guys id this south american cichlid i got yesterday he is nonagressive to my other fish (yellow tailed cuda,needle nose,silver dolllars,fire eel pleco and clown loach) but i dont know wat he is

Definatly an eartheater, but I'm not real good on the Id's. Possibly a jurupari.

wat do they eat are they herbivores or carnivores

Just feed the a high quality small cichlid pellet. They need the food to be small do get 1mm pellets if possible.

they are sand sifters so what ever falls on the bottom they will eat

Thats what I think it is too. Awesome looking fish.

Definitely a S. leucosticta. They are a moderately sized Earth Eater that get up to 10" or so. They definitely sift sand so I'd provide it for them. They also do well in groups of at least 4 or more, so I'd get more if you can.
