South american community tank with 1 red

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice looking tank. It looks as it was set up relatively recently. What is the history thus far, and what are the dimensions? Any thoughts about adding some sort of fast growing floating plant?

Its a standsrd 125 (72x18x21) running an fx4 and sponge filter rated for 160 gallons, planning on getting a powerhead soon too.
I got the tank itself with like $1600 worth of supplies for $300 off fb marketplace in april and actually ended up having to reseal it completely last month because i woke up to a huge puddle on the floor lol but honestly im happy i got the experience of resealing a big tank like that as my first time ever doing it. Ive had the red shoulder and silver dollars for over a year at this point, they used to live with some other fish in my 72 gallon. The true parrot was from an online store in around june, and the geophagus and catfish a few weeks after that. I had a hujeta gar in here for awhile but he jumped out unfortunately because i forgot to put the floating cork back after cleaning it one day. Honestly the past year with this thing has been insane but so fun. Ive been going back and forth on a blue acara (not electric blue) and maybe a larger tetra as a dither but I know the parrot has some growing to do and idk if i wanna put myself in a position where ill have to upgrade the tank size. Ideally i want to have some anubais on the bottom with tons of botanicals but i doubt thw silver dollars will allow it. I have an axolotl tank that generates water lettuce, salvinia, and duckweed so i can take some flosting plsnts from there. Sorry for the long response
