south american fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What kind of fish are you looking for? South American fish can mean a lot. Lots of fish are farm raised. The fish farms of FL got hit hard by the freezing weather a few months back. Some people were saying the price of fish might go up due to the huge loss the FL farms took.

Fish comming in from Asia should still be ok lots of fish farms from there. Could be also due to the poor economy people are not buying fish like they were a few years back so lfs are not ordering as many. We lost a few Lfs when the economy took a dive.

could be a bazzilion reasons causeing that. Your LFS might be hurting so they dont take any risk on anything that is too far outside the run of the mill stuff (most likely b/c my LFS has SA stock out the yang ya) but import/export laws change, spceies/habitats get protected/destroyed etc.

looking for red tailed payara, yellow tail or red tailed barracuda, arowana or spotted silver dollar

No way to know. Like it was said there are too many reasons why you might see these fish in your fish store. So unless you go ask the owner of the store no way to know for sure.

Try the venders here look at the list. Or aquabid would be a good place to look.

Red tailed payara are hit or miss from year to year. This year allmost every good vendor had Armatus and alot still do. LOL

But right now the barracuda's are everywhere. There is a vendor here that has them in stock. And I just got 10 yellow tail Ace falcirostris from tfdfish a couple weeks ago. And now they are even coming into a few of my Lfs's.

Search the cuda threads in the characin forum i posted the links to the vendors in there.

from November thru march are when all the juvie wild caught SA fish come in. The hunt is on.
