south american gar question

I saw one a my LFS and was wondering how big they get

not big at all i beleave 12 inches if that they arent true gars like floridas and spotteds they stay fairly small..

It is most likely a pike characin, either spotted or marble lined. They barely reach a foot in home aquaria and are very skittish much like other characins. I have weaned them off of live food in the past but it is fairly difficult in my opinion.
