I lived in Wilmington NC for several years, then moved to Charlotte for a long time... I'm moving back down to Charlotte in about 2 weeks...

There are laws in place regarding bringing them into captivity, be sure to do yoru homework so you know what's legal and what's not.

Also do your homework to ensure you are providing them a suitable home. I wouldn't consider them 'delicate', but they aren't your typical Slider either...

thanks for the info. Like i said. He would have a suidible home. I have kept many turtles. and many large cool fish in my life and would never indanger any species of animals. I'm a animal lover after all. I did check out them a bunch actuall diddn't c any were were it said any thing about not being able to keep them as pets. Guess i will look around more. Thanks for you'r time and info thow

eah, I am pretty sure they are protected in the wild and you need to buy captive breed ones. I am not 100% sure on that but you should definitely look into it. They are really cool turtles though. Try looking around in some estuaries these are brackish turtles so they are going to be close to the coast.

There is a Repticon next weekend in columbia south carolina that I will be going to to. They might have some there if you are looking to buy one.

Here is the website where you will find your info. I know that SC is very relaxed about exotics as pets but I am not sure what the law is on collecting there. I know In FL you cannot collect more than 2 and may not have them for sale or trade and are not allowed to remove them from the state for sale or trade. Anyways, here is the link to SC DNR:

This was a key detail I was hoping you'd find when doing your homework to ensure you are providing a suitable home. Very very few people harm their animals because they just don't care, but many many people harm their animals because of a lack of knowledge or understanding about their needs.

But as a brackish water animals, keeping them in a nice big clean freshwater pond will be doing them harm. This was the detail that prevented me from keeping them in the past.

They acclimate to fresh water just fine. They can be found in all sorts of water types, from fresh to straight salt water, in all there ranges.

thanks again for you'r concern for you'r input. I do know that theyare brackish turtes. For one i have been doing a lot of researchon them and for two there isnt even any fresh water down here. I appreciate your concern for poorly taking care of such an animal. I am not te person that buys a fish in a store cuzz it looks cool and don't know any thing about it just cuzz i like it. Like i said i am a highly exspereinced fish and reptile keeper and allways do my home work. I have all hd plenty of salt and or brackish tank set up. Thanks for you'r time. and information i do appreciate. If you have any thing else to add please do so thanks again.

Sincerely
