South Carolina Just Annihilated Millions of Bees By Accident

I posted a thread about bees many years ago but couldn't find it, so....

To prevent Zika-infected mosquitoes from taking root in South Carolina, officials in Dorchester County gave the go-ahead to spray a powerful insecticide over the countryside. The effort resulted in the unexpected deaths of millions of bees at a time when these critical pollinators are struggling worldwide.

I never would have guessed that insecticide would kill bees (you know, black and yellow winged INSECTS) for the life of me...

Yup. It almost makes me want to hide in a hole knowing I'm from the same species as something that dumb... Then to call this "unexpected"... Sheesh.


Although it was for the greater good... Now those mozzies won't be spreading Zika so it was worth it, right?
