South FL Fish Farm Trip: Recap

I'm planning a 3 farm trip with some people i know (both friends and members from a local aquarium society) down here in south florida. It will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012. Afterwards I will post pictures and possibly video from the farms.

Most of the farms specialize in cichlids and livebearers. one farm i am going to has incredible jaguar cichlids free swimming between the concrete tanks! an 8 inch fish may have trailers 4 inches or more! almost longfin! Along with some of the prettiest african cichlids i have ever seen in person...

Stay tuned in for the updates on Saturday evening and/or Sunday! I'll try to photograph (and possibly keep) one of the "longfin" managuense too!

I'm trying to schedule this event with Gold Coast Aquarium Society (hosting the ALA convention this year) but only a few people are going... the three fish farms include Neighborhood fish farm, Summerland (recently bought by Neighborhood) and a wholesaler who rarely sells his fish to individuals, but always welcomes us. If i knew how to ship, i'd ask for requests! Maybe sometime in the future...

It will be all day, and there will be plenty of pictures!

Been to neighborhood and summerland! great places. some bad experiences but overall I recommend them. have fun!
