Hey guys. Long time since I posted. I now live in South Florida in Boynton beach since moving from Massachusetts. Not able to own a tank right now but I am highly interested in catching some peacock bass while I'm down here. Just seeing if any of you knew where some good spots for them were. I heard maybe the Tamiami canal? Let me know what your experience down here with them is. I also heard in some areas clown knives, RTC, and snakeheads are also caught? What non-native monsters have you guys caught down in these parts??

Not there, but northern I've caught all kinds of things. Mainly Oscars and midevilish types. Also a few brownish black snakeheads. South Florida there's no telling what your going to get. I guy I use to work with caught a giant snakehead, severall dovii, and a ton of jaguar cichlids along with finding a Malaysian mangrove snake in his backyard around miami i believe. Throw a line in anywhere and check it out. Im assuming gators are abundant down there as well.

Sorry not as specific as you wanted, but all I have to offer

Haha it's all good man that sounds cool though I'd especially love to catch a Dovii. What lake did you catch that in?

Not sure a PM from the company we were doing some work for took us out to some of his spots. I can't remember the surrounding area that well as we were all talking about this and that. It was around the jaskonsville area heading from Starke.

The guy I worked with lived around Miami. I want to say around lake osborne is where you catch peacocks. Not sure where that is in relation to you.

I guess i'll come clean midas and mayan cichlids are delicious :)

lol wouldn't be fishing for cichlids in S.Florida if it was me, if you want my advice, i'd tell ya to go catch a couple grunts, put them in a Flow-troll bucket and take your heaviest, stoutest gear - rods, lines, and some 7/0 or 8/0 hooks - and find a reef or a wreck or a deep-ass spot w/ monsters like Grouper, Sharks, Tarpon, ' Cuda, etc and let them come to you. The Grunts always seem to find the fish for you......

oh yea, then once you hook one, brace yourself and hold on for dear-life.

I have caught peacock bass at the "everglades holiday park" just off of 27 near miami. Go next to the car bridge. caught mayans, tilapia, and oscars in alligator alley.

Yeah I caught a 350 lb Goliath a couple years ago I'm more of a freshwater guy though. Plus peacock bass are my dream fish.
