TEXAS
Went out to a friends ranch today here in S. Texas. The original intent was to catch some big bass and blue gill and see if we could put a dent in the talapia population. Well we netted quite-a-few talapia for table fare and caught and released a few bass/sunfish but the HIGHLIGHT of my day was watching my daughter reel in the BIGGEST TX Cichlid I've ever seen! It weighed in around 2.3 pounds and around (guessing) 14 inches long! Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera or a bucket to put the fish in. SO...I left, got my a big ice chest and came back. Well, we did catch several other Tx Cichlids but none as big as my daughters. I kept two for my home aquarium (the current inhabitants are gettin the boot to my buddies aquarium) Anyway, here's one of the spots we were fishing:

and here's one of my new aquarium aquisitions:

I picked up one male and one female so we'll see ?? :headbang2

It moves pretty slow in that one spot but runs fast in others. You can actually see the springs comming up from the bottom in some spots. Crystal Clear...

A friend of mine was from Quito (sp). His dad was the Ecuadorian Ammbas. to the US. The pictures that he showed me from their ranch was awesome! I'd kill to make a trip down there for some snake hunting and fishing. You're lucky. go out and get some pictures of the local fauna for us gringos del norte that aren't lucky enough to be down there..Jason
