I have just recently put in a bag of black sand in hope to help with my bichirs color (will be getting more soon and mixing it in better) and though my kolbia is coloring up, I have noticed a pinkish hue to his pectoral fins, is this normal normal or ok? He is wild caught.

Thank you

Can't tell if that's a problem or not but I can say that adding the sand could have altered your water parameters (probably making it harder/less acidic) and that might be having some effect on the fish. I wouldn't really expect it to hurt a poly too much, though.

Have you tested the water?

Havnt checked parameters past 2 days but will be today. He still eats and acts normal. Thanks everyone

That pinkish hue on the fins are the blood vessels showing signs of stress. Since it's new it's still probably calming down. It should b fine soon.

+1, assuming you just recently got it from Mike and Kevin, in a few days/weeks (plus the darker sand) and its color will really start to show.
